This NRCA publication provides guidelines and technical information concerning the design and documentation, materials, installation and testing of roof assembly air retarders (also called air barriers) for compliance with the applicable requirements of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), 2012 and 2015 editions and ASHRAE 90.1, "Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings," 2010, 2013 and 2016 editions.

In addition to code compliance, the guidelines provide background on roofing industry research conducted on air movement in low-slope membrane roof assembles and NRCA's recommendations for roof assembly air retarders. 

This document is best used with the applicable editions of IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 and the current edition of The NRCA Roofing Manual.
